The Rue Of Money

An extremely interesting afternoon when it comes to personal development. I drove into town this afternoon with a simple plan, to go out for lunch. Little was I to know I’d end up making a decision I think will define a sector of my life in the immediate, and distant future.
After lunch I did a [...]

Shooting My First Wedding

It has been my goal for some time now to attend a wedding as the main photographer, a goal I completed over the weekend down in Christchurch, New Zealand – a two hour flight from home.
Overall I found the whole process rather relaxed. My flight arrived in Christchurch the afternoon before the wedding, and I [...]

New Years Resolutions: 2008 Edition

I don’t have many resolutions this year, just four. Four simple goals I’d like to follow in the calendar year of 2008. I succeeded with each and every one of last years set goals, I hope I will be just as successful with these four things this year.
Work Hard, Play Harder
Most of 2007 was spent [...]

When Motivation Strikes

Credit: Flickr Photographer
Wow. I wish I felt like this all the time. I’ve just woken up after only heading to bed an hour ago, it’s eleven PM. I jumped out of bed feeling energized and motivated.
This happens to me quite frequently but I wish it stayed with me for longer than it usually does. I’ve [...]

What Technology Did You Buy In 2007?

Last year I wrote a similar post, here’s the 2007 edition of what technology I’ve purchased this year. All-in-all, I spent more than I wish I had on technology this year, I’m expecting 2008 to be a slightly quieter year. I’m happy with my current setup and will be for some time.

Week Away

Just like last year, I’m heading away for a week for the annual Northern Districts cricket tournament, this time to Gisborne, New Zealand with the Bay Of Plenty Under 17 squad.
I’m heading away in the morning and will be back next Tuesday. It’ll be nice to have a break from technology and the internet [...]

Back To Regular Operation

Yes – I was indeed hacked yesterday. I didn’t expect it to stir up so much conversation in the community. The Digg homepage piece contains over 450 comments, a number which is very rarely achieved on an Apple related Digg piece.
I’d like to quickly thank all the people who have sent me emails offering words [...]

Frequent Commenter? Rewards Aplenty

After looking at some stats this morning and seeing there have been 5,600 comments made over the 313 posts I’ve pressed the publish button to, I decided it’s time to give back to the loyal reader who are posting their thoughts on each entry I press the publish button to.
As this month has just started, [...]

How I Keep A Simple & Tidy Work Area

I’ve been asked time and time again why my desk is so clean when I post a picture to Flickr, people tell me I should leave it the way it is and not ’stage’ the desk shots. Well, uhh, folks – that’s how my desk looks in a normal situation.
How I manage to keep such [...]

Dropping A Few Notes

Just a few quick notes which don’t warrant a full post of their own, but I wanted to make a quick mention of.
I’ve sat down with a few other Mac fanatics and recorded the first episode of the MacFocus podcast. The team of Nick Danforth, Alex Killpatrick, Wesley Yendrys and myself produced the first podcast [...]

I’ve Blogged For 1 Year Today, 5 Things I’ve Learnt

One year old today. 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, or 8,760 hours. It feels like so much longer, I’ve done so much over this short year – met so many cool people, blogged about so many cool things, and had a lot of fun communicating with the people who matter, you!
July 22nd, 2006 stated [...]

Parkside Media Macguide Magazine: The End

I have had some idea that something was happening inside Parkside Media on Macguide over the past month or two, and today I got comfirmation. Macguide, the magazine I’ve been writing to for over a year now is shutting up shop on the title due to poor advertising sales over the last few issues.
This hasn’t [...]

Big Props To Jason McVearry And The Media Temple Team

I thought I’d write a quick post thanking Jason McVearry and the great people at Media Temple for their excellent service over the past 6 months. I received an email from Jason a couple of weeks ago letting me know that they have made my account a “no-charge” zone, meaning I’m getting my Grid-Server hosting [...]

Laptopless, Losing Stress, And Current Life Situation

Last week I listed my week three Core Duo MacBook for sale on TradeMe, an auction site similar to eBay but specific for New Zealanders. I listed the laptop with intention to update it to a newer Core 2 Duo model, meaning I’d get a faster processor, the newer Airport card, and a fresh clean [...]

5 People Who Inspire Me In Different Fields

Everyone has places they go, things they do, or things they look at to gain inspiration to keep them motivated on the task in hand. I am no different, no matter what I’m doing, these 5 people/things never fail to inspire me to do great things.

Re-Shuffling Data Input Points

I’ve been a little overwhelmed recently with all the projects I’ve taken on. With these projects my email load has increased. Along with this increased email load, I’ve also become overwhelmed with RSS feeds, tweets via Twitter, and Skype calls coming my way.
In a few months time I’m likely to drop a lot of [...]

My Future In DVDs Is The Netflix Way

Over the past year my interest in DVDs and movies has increased considerably. My DVD collection went up from a pitiful ten movies, to where it stands today at around 50 titles. No, it’s not too big compared to others, but for me to pick up 50 DVDs in the past year was quite a [...]

Need Some Work Done? Hire Me

I’m currently waiting anxiously for WWDC to purchase a new setup. I was all set to purchase a 24″ iMac, until I decided to change my mind to a Mac Pro after hearing advice from a few Apple employees, and friends in the design business. The only downside to this sudden change in purchasing plans [...]

What Gets Delivered To Your Email Inbox?

Update: I’ve decided to change my plan of attack, and lighten the load a little. Blog comments & Flickr activity now get directed into my RSS reader.
A few weeks ago I changed all my social web accounts to send emails to me when activity happened on my profiles/accounts. My volume of email has increased, but [...]

Saving My Pennies For WWDC

I’ve been holding off buying a new Mac for months and months now – and I’ve finally decided to..wait until WWDC (thats World Wide Developer Conference) in June this year before I purchase a new machine.

I’m sick and tired of waiting for an update to the iMac before I buy, but after waiting so long to purchase it, another few months of anxious waiting shouldn’t hurt. Though what exactly am I waiting on a new machine for if I feel I need to buy it now? I want Leopard and iLife (07) to be bundled on the machine – along with a few upgrades to the hardware side of the machine such as RAM capacity which I want increasing to 4GB, and a slight processor upgrade raising it to the 2.4Ghz mark.
