iWork & iLife 08 Tutorials
Apple August 8th, 2007
Looks like Apple has put a lot of in-depth work into their iLife and iWork 08 training tutorials. They’ve recorded literally dozens of high quality, well presented video clips training you how to make the most of each main feature in the new software suites.
I’ve gone through and downloaded all the videos to my media hard drive for viewing at a later date. Looks like there’s plenty to learn. I’m hoping Apple use this as a launching pad and start to record more of these videos for newly released software - I’m sure it’ll receive nothing but praise from consumers learning their newly acquired applications.

I placed an order for both iLife 08 and iWork 08 earlier this morning and just received my shipping confirmation email a few minutes ago. Look like I’ll have both in my hands by Friday. Have you jumped on board yet?

Yes! I ordered iLife ‘08, iWork ‘08 and a wired keyboard right after the presentation, according to Apple they should arrive here by tomorrow (Thursday).

Have not ordered either but as a ‘Pro’ application user (FCS2, Aperture, Etc) what I’m seeing is a lot of features from these apps making into the ‘consumer’ stuff and I think this is a good thing.

I was blown away by the quality of their videos, makes me love Apple much more knowing that they thought of every detail.
After watching Apple’s tutorials I think that every software developer(at least the major ones) should provide free quality video tutorials that explain at least the basics of their apps, pdfs and analog manuals are so 1999.
ps: From what I’ve seen in the videos, I don’t get it, why do people always argue that MS Word is superior to Pages, I think Pages is gorgeous, has an kick-ass UI design and is easier to use.

I saw how extensive there tutorials went but did not have the time to go through them. Now of course, I’ll go through each and every one of them with haste and curiosity. I went to the Apple Store today only to find that the Family Pack for iWork had not shipped yet. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to go with just iLife for a few days. =P iPhoto’s my favorite because, as most of you know, I love photography. I just hope that they add some sort of events thing to Aperture. iMovie I haven’t had the time to play with..but of course I’ve only had this for half an hour now. =P iWork looks really great and will replace Word. I only hope Cel…excuse me…Numbers will hold up to the challenge.
Off to those tutorials!

Very impressed with iMovie and iPhoto - events makes a lot of sense and the skimming feature is amazing and fast… Keynote has some amazing new transitions and a couple of superb new themes. Overall VERY impressed and great value - certainly for $80 each!

I would buy both right now. I have the money. I’m just concerned about their speed on my Core Duo MacBook with Intel Integrated graphics. Thoughts?

I would go right ahead and order them Caitlyn, don’t have any idea why you’re worried about performance on a Core Duo MacBook. If it was pre-Intel, I’d worry a little, but any of the Intel based Mac’s with adequate RAM ’should’ run iLife/iWork 08 no sweat.

I ordered my copy yesterday afternoon, and at about 9:30 this morning, the courier rocked up at my office with it. That’s an incredibly quick delivery from Apple!

These tutorials are stunning … does anyone know who created them? (Obviously it could have been Apple, but I wonder if they outsourced it or something.)
I’d like to find out what software they used to capture all the different pieces. I especially like that little bubble they use to callout and magnify little elements. Anyone know what they use to build this in?

Glenn, you should do some spreadsheet work in Numbers and then do a short video on it. I’d like to hear your thoughts.

I just looked at the iLife and iWork tutorial videos, and was wondering how you downloaded them to your local HDD?
Did you use QuickTime Pro and have access to the “Save Source” option?
