So have you heard anything from them? It’s things like this (coming through on a coupon promise) that can give us a tiny indication of how kosher TheMacPak really is.

If they cannot enable you to announce anything, that will not reflect well on TheMacPak I’m afraid.

I don’t think anyone is getting tired of cheap software. If you want to pay full price for a bunch of apps, go right ahead.

What people grow tired of is the monsterous amount of hype that comes along with it, and the (usually) long wait to get to the prize. Prizes should be secured BEFORE the contests/promotion starts, not during it. The mailing out of serial numbers should have a testing period BEFORE the prizes are actually awarded. MacHeist had all kinds of issues getting people the software serials AFTER they already purchased the software. That is unacceptable, and there is absolutely no excuse.

MacHeist was fun for a lot of people, and for those who didn’t want to go through the “heists” – there were plenty of “spoilers” in the forums that told you exactly how to get free software. Over all, a great experience for the end user.

In short, these app giveaway promotions need to be thought out. We’ve seen the best and worst of them (as far as the overall experience goes), and it’s clear that people don’t take too kindly to blunders, snags, hidden BS, and excuses for server loads, etc.

I did some digging, and both sixtyforce and PodTube appear to fit the criteria. Each has a MacUpdate rating of exactly 4.5, and had a 95 rating on iusethis at the time I checked. I would guess one of these is in the bundle.
As for the criticism for these types of promotions, they seem to be pleasing everyone (developers, purchasers, promoters) since they keep popping up.

I’m waiting on MacHive as well.
I just hope that TheMacPak won’t be like MysteryZot, where you don’t know what you buy. I don’t want to get a 4th license of AppZapper.

If the apps interest me, I’ll buy it.

First, their website design is (currently) awful.

Second, the part that the price increases as they reveal new apps is moronic. This was a rumor about the MacHeist bundle, and it thankfully didn’t turn out true. You frustrate the people who buy early because they don’t end up getting what they want, and you frustrate the people who buy late because they’re jealous of the people who got it early. And during the whole process, you make people unsure and insecure about their buying decision.

Plus, there’s no community to support/defend it like there was at MacHeist.

In addition, at this time, they haven’t announced any donations to charities, something that helped MacHeist PR-wise.

Furthermore, they have a bad reputation because of the sloppy execution of MAAD.

Not only that, they look like copy-cats doing this after MacHeist.

Related issue is that people may be getting tired of these giveaways/special deals (a point that applies to MH 2 as well, but at least that will be later and not marred by all the stuff above).

Let them prove me wrong, and I’ll be most happy to participate.

I tend to agree that there has been a bit too much of this already, it’s getting a bit old. But still, who can turn down a good deal?

What I like about this one, is that the price isn’t all that bad. $30 could be worth it, even if I end up using only 1 or 2 of the apps.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled thankyou :)

I’m failing to get excited about this. It sounds way too much like macZOT and MacHeist and all those other irritating things that the younger Mac users/developers are doing.
And I hate them.

I’ve wasted too much money and time on those things. Anyway, .
