Saving My Pennies For WWDC
Apple, Personal March 15th, 2007
I’ve been holding off buying a new Mac for months and months now - and I’ve finally decided to..wait until WWDC (thats World Wide Developer Conference) in June this year before I purchase a new machine.
I’m sick and tired of waiting for an update to the iMac before I buy, but after waiting so long to purchase it, another few months of anxious waiting shouldn’t hurt. Though what exactly am I waiting on a new machine for if I feel I need to buy it now? I want Leopard and iLife (07) to be bundled on the machine - along with a few upgrades to the hardware side of the machine such as RAM capacity which I want increasing to 4GB, and a slight processor upgrade raising it to the 2.4Ghz mark.
The overall design of the iMac is amazing and as much as I’d like a design refresh, I cant see anything Apple could improve on other than removing the chin off the machine.
If I was told WWDC wasn’t happening, I’d go out right now and purchase a 24″ iMac with a 500GB HDD, 2GB of RAM, and the 256MB video card. But as WWDC is happening and I don’t want to have to shell out another $300 for software alone if I do not delay the purchase..that’s if my girlfriend Sarah let’s me (you know how it is tech guys). Bring on the conference, I’ll be waiting with cash in hand to purchase a new workstation.

But don’t you already have two new Macs as is? You’ve got too much cash if you ask me. :P

I have a 17″ Intel iMac (Core Duo) and a MacBook. I will be keeping the MacBook and selling the iMac. I need a new machine with a larger screen and HDD to keep up with my photography. The 17″ screen is far too restricting.

Me too. I’m waiting for an upgrade to the MacBook. Honestly, I don’t care if they do or not, but what I’m really waiting for is Leopard. I’ve scrounged up about 800 USD, which isn’t good enough. Thankfully, my dad has agreed to spot me the rest. I don’t know how I’ll pay him back… I’m not making ANY money.

Also, just noticed this for everyone out there, hover over the “Basement” button in the header and read the 5th word…

I’m waiting eagerly for a new laptop. Come the day of WWDC, I’ll be getting a new MacBook Pro! Can’t wait to upgrade my PowerBook.
Girlfriend letting you? At your age? Ouch… If you let it start now, you’re doomed later on in life. =P

I love my MacBook, and I purchased it at exactly the right time. I’ve had it for months and no updates to make me feel jealous!

Wah wah, I need a new Mac.
I’d kill to have your current iMac.

Exactly what I was thinking, Stephan. :P

Right with ya. =] I’ve been wanting a (new) Mac since New Years. And a couple more months can’t hurt. =]

Think of those who don’t even have ONE mac….

My feeling exactly Glenn. I need an Intel Mac badly, but I will not spring for one until I get Leopard and iLife’07 with it. It’s a matter of principle! :-)
Plus I think the new MacBook Pros will have some major changes.

Um… Try being married. You don’t know anything about getting grief until you’re hitched. Aren’t you 15? If you’re catching that much crap already, buckle in.

Same for me! I’m getting an iMac for high school this September, and I sadly have to wait until WWDC. I still have an iBook G4, while you have an iMac and a MacBook *cry*

I am hoping for iMac upgrades. I want them to have more graphic, memory and procesor power. Anyway, I’ll be purchasing my first Mac ever and can’t wait for it. It will be iMac 24′…
Leopard is scheduled to be released in October 2007, at WWDC in July only the developers will be given out copies for further testing. It is on Apple website guys, come on…
