Mail Tips: Flagging Helps
Productivity December 7th, 2006
You have an overloaded inbox, many messages need replying to, many need reading, and many just need filing. This is where Flagging your mail can come in handy.
Go through the messages in your inbox and for each message that requires action or you need to reply to it, flag it. This will display a neat red flag icon next to the message, making it easy to spot when scrolling.
While you are at it, set up a smart folder in your mailbox which displays all of your flagged messages. This will make it even easier to sort through the stacks of messages you need to get through.

Flagging is something so essential to my Mail experience that I couldn’t possibly live without it. I go through all my mail, flag the important ones and get back to them once I have some time.
It’s fairly simple to create a Smart Folder that gathers all your flagged e-mails.
(Off topic: how about a report on the new iTunes Store in NZ, Glenn?)

I used to use this strategy, but soon preferred to set these emails I needed to take action for as unread after I read it through once. The number beside the folder motivates me :)

This is another good tip Glenn, and I’d agree with Smaran that going back to them later when you have sufficient time to look at them is a great idea

Hi Glenn,
I like your tips but could you please go a little bit more into detail meaning that you show sceenshots how to do i.e. flagging or creating a smart folder. That would be great!

hmm usually I answer mails as soon as they are in my mailbox..
I guesss I don’t recice as many mails as you do, so it’s a bit easier for me here :)

I completely agree with Christian, Glenn. This post was really tiny. At least post a screenshot or two showing how your Smart Folders look etc.

I am with Yannic, and I think Michael said on an ealier post. I cannot live with email sitting in my inbox. :-P
This is a very good idea though Glenn, i like the idea of screenshots too. :-)

You want screenshots, screenshots you will have.
