5 Reasons Why I Blog
Blogging November 25th, 2006Many bloggers write a long post on why they are blogging, but I thought I’d do it a little differently and post in the ever so popular list format. Here’s 5 reasons why I blog.
- 1. It’s Fun
Blogging is simply fun. I enjoy writing, I enjoy receiving feedback, and I enjoy seeing my work on the web. If blogging wasn’t fun, I’d have nothing to do with it.
- 2. It Keeps Me Busy
Blogging forces discipline on me. Each day that I look at the WordPress calendar and see it’s blank, it creates a false illusion to me that I have to do something to fill the blank space. Blogging keeps me focused and busy to keep creating.
- 3. I Love Comments
I love waking up each morning and seeing new comments on the blog. It’s a great feeling to know your reaching people and they are taking note of your hard work and efforts. Comments are one thing which keeps me coming back for more.
- 4. Job Opportunities
You would be surprised to see how many working opportunities have been presented to myself in the few months I’ve been blogging. There have been a few requests for blogging, writing, and podcasting work. One day blogging might present me with an offer I cant turn down.
- 5. The People
There are many great people to be met in the blogosphere. I have become reasonable good friends with bloggers such as Paul Stamation, Derek Punsalan, Phill Ryu, and dozens of people in the Mac community.
Why do you blog? For money, for fun, to get better at writing, to meet people, or all of the reasons listed? Let me know why you are blogging!

FYI, it says 10 reasons instead of 5 reasons in the first paragraph.

Those are practically the reasons Ryan and I started our own apple blog called Appleication.com. I love it!

I wouldn’t say so much for job opportunies, but definately for comments - I personally love people’s opinions about anything, good or bad. A sense of community is great feeling.

I completely agree with you on all fronts, Glenn, except the job opportunities thing. If only some would present themselves, life would be a lot more fun. (and there would be more tech stuff in my house).

Blogging about Mac stuff has been a most satisfying experience for me. The only problem I’ve had is all the “rude” comments I get by the bunch when the occasions the website gets dugg.
I’m not sure how you’re able to resist that much, Glenn. :-P

I’ve just started blogging for fun and to voice my opinions about Mac stuff. It’s nice that people agree with you and offer their opinions

I’ve been blogging for awhile, but just launched my own personal site. I love blogging, and it’s all about the feedback, I love the comments. I’m not worried about money or anything (since I run the hosting company ;-) )

you really like the list formatt don’t ya Glenn HAHA good thing i like it too, breaks up giant mountains of text into nice little bite size chunks, anyways im just glad you like blogging…..hmmmmmmm i do have a little spare time on my hands maybe i should open up a apple/design blog *ponders*

@ Codie.
Email me if you want to talk about an Apple/Design blog ;-)
also, the list format is the best. People are more likely to read a list, since they can skim, then if they like what they see they’ll read the rest.

Hey - I found your site while researching my impending switch to the world of Mac. I must say that it is a great site. I like your style and the subjects you post about.
As for me - I blog for fun, comments and just to get the words out of my head and out into the world.
It’s turned out to be a great medium for discussion.
Later - Ben O.
