I think GrammarNazi means another ‘your’:

“But why would you need to keep the PPC code if your on Intel?”

This “your”, I believe, should be corrected in either you are or you’re. Or you can use ‘if yours is an Intel’.

Don’t get mad at me if this is wrong, because English is not my first language.

Thanks for the concise review, anyway :) I am new to this site, and I like it.

GrammarNazi- Why would it be “you’re”? You’re = You are, so you say the title should be “Your are Mac on a Diet”?

Just to clarify: Xslimmer works both for Intel and PowerPC Macs. If you have a PowerPC Mac, the part that gets eliminated from the slimmed apps is the Intel one.

That is why Xslimmer is a universal app. You can use Xslimmer to slim it self :)

On the other hand, Xslimmer has a feature by which you can drop apps from a mounted image (.dmg). It will install the application you and then, pressing slim, you can slim it right away. Thanks to this you can save an step in installing new apps.

Seems like a bit of a one-trick pony for $10, especially with multiple free competitors, but the implementation is nice. Let me put it this way — I wouldn’t pay $10 for it, but I might buy it on MacZOT.com…

Why is it not possible to do the opposite? Strip Intel mac content out and to keep PPC data.

Bet that’ll be useful when CS3 comes out! Then again, I wonder if it could take on something that robust…

@Smaran: If you needed it, you’d pay. And don’t count on seeing too many Intel only apps. Developers would certainly risk alienating PPC users. Maybe in a couple years. Not everyone has the coin to run out and buy a new Intel machine. I happen to run both and my G4 PB will be viable for another year or two (and it’s 2+ years old).

It looks like a really good solution… but as always, it costs.

Hopefully, we’ll soon see more Intel-only applications and the need for this won’t exist.
