Xslimmer: Your Mac On A Diet

If you own an Intel Macintosh and are using Universal Applications then space is been wasted on your hard-drive in the form of un-necessary code.

Most application are coded in Universal Binary. This means it contains the code to run on both Intel and PPC Mac’s natively. But why would you need to keep the PPC code if your on Intel? Simple, you dont.

Xslimmer

Xslimmer is a new application (currently in beta) which strips out the PPC code from your applications to compress the size of the application, and increase it’s performance overall.

To use simply open the application, and you are presented with this window:

Now drag the application/s you want to “xslim” onto the applications icon, and you will be presented with this window:

Now all you need to do is click “Slim!” and it will automatically strip all the un-needed code out of the application. All you need to do now is enjoy the snappy speed of your slimmed applications.
