Weekend Online Spending Spree
Personal September 26th, 2006Over this past weekend I’ve made a few (okay, a lot) of purchases online. So what did I spend my hard earned cash on?

ScreenCastsOnline Extra! Membership
ScreenCastsOnline provide great, educational, helpful video tutorials bought to you from Don McAllister.
I decided to splash on the Extra! Membership because of the added bonus content you get over a Free! Subscriber. The added incentive of a free DVD of the full show archives was the deal sealer for me.
$25.00 (6 month subscription)
Ecto
I discovered Ecto by reading Darren Rowse’s ProBlogger. Ecto allows you to quickly and efficiently post to your blog from within a client side application.
Want to add images to a post? No problem: just drag and drop them into the post and they’ll upload for you when you hit publish.
Ecto has made blogging so much more efficient for me, and I cant wait to see whats in store for the upcoming Ecto 3. (Ecto is currently not a Universal Binary, but version 3 will change that.)
$17.95 (With free 3.0 upgrade)
Pukka
I wrote about the del.icio.us bookmarking application Pukka yesterday. I purchased this to help me start managing the posting of my bookmarks to del.icio.us as doing everything manually through the site was a real annoyance.
I can say it was the best $5 I’ve ever spent on a Mac software title, hand down.
$5.00
iDictionary
I saw iDictionary on MacZOT for $3.50 and couldn’t turn it down. Now I have a dictionary built right into my iPod for all those times when I need to look smart and create an impression.
$3.50
So these are the purchases I made over the weekend, they should keep me busy for a while. Thats till I decide to splash on TextExpander which I’ve grown to love over the last 2 days…

I love the idea of a dictionary on my iPod, but I can’t stand the way the notes feature works. You can’t view the notes until all of them have loaded, and they need to load each time you boot the iPod up.

You really got the dictionary for 3.50? Seems it’s 7 bucks here: http://prosit-software.com/idictionary.html

I prefer Cocoalicious over Pukka, both for it’s interface and also for it’s price.
WebNoteHappy is also worth checking out if you insist on paying for your del.icio.us bookmarking app of choice.

@Greg: MacZot gave him a discount. Thats how it works.
