Reader Feedback: Long vs Short Posts
Personal September 14th, 2006Welcome to the first “User Feedback” post. What I’m hoping to get out of this blog post is to understand my readers (thats you!) a little better, and understand what aspects you like about this blog.
Today’s topic is which kind of posts are better, long (article’s and long lists) or short (like I’ve been posting over the past few days)?
Shorter posts mean I can blog more often, sometimes multiple times a day, where long posts mean I can only deliver content a couple of times a week.
Let me know what you think in the comment form below, you guys/girls are my readers and I want you to enjoy your every click on this blog, so help me help you! Thanks in advance to everyone who provides feedback, and have a good night.

Apples and oranges Glenn… I like the length of the “n Ways” posts but in the same vein I wouldn’t want you to waste your time blabbering on about the latest Apple news when it’s already been covered elsewhere.
I say if it’s unique and needs the length go for it but for links, news and such stick to the essentials.
Just do whatever suites the content.

Hey there Glenn, my thoughts are for you to have nice short post like you have at the moment, its nice to know the blogger is blogging if you know what i mean, but also on things like a big announcement like for example yesterday it would be nice to have you do i nice averageish long post if you could handel it, it just makes ur blog that much more intresting if you have that variety of posts. anyway thats just my thoughts

It depends on the subject at hand, alot of the time I’d rather posts to be short and concise (my blog posts are rarely anything over 500 words) and there are times I like reading novel sized posts aka anything John Gruber writes.

I agree with Chris and Codie. It dependes on the subject, but at the same time is always nice to know that everyday you’ve got a new post. So far I’ve liked pretty much everyone. I find it to be a great source of information.

I agree with Dylan. Apple news can be read elsewhere and its more interesting to read your thoughts on different things.
I guess you could combine short and long but place emphasis on posting long entries instead.

I’m sure you would be able to find a happy medium between long posts and a really short, meaningless post, Glenn. :)

I like medium/long posts, but separated into paragraphs, easier on the eyes. Thanks.
