Apple Special Event: Predictions
Apple September 13th, 2006Just hours away now, the Apple September 12th Special Event has almost arrived, and as most of the Mac community has already done so, it’s my turn to speculate my complied list of ideas/wishes.
Predictions
- Apple Movie Store
- New Widescreen iPod in 50/80GB variations
- iTunes 7.0
- One more thing…Airport Express (with Video)
Wishes
- 16×9 widescreen iPod, 50/100GB, Bluetooth syncing with iTunes, ability to switch to a Front Row styled interface
- Redesigned iPod shuffle
- Apple PDA

As far as disk sizes go, I don’t think 50 and 100GB are likely – 60GB, 80GB and even 120GB is what they would be, but I don’t expect more than 80GB.
Bluetooth syncing with iTunes – I completely forgot that the Bluetooth could be used for syncing – I was thinking wireless headphones. However, unfortunately Bluetooth is very slow, relatively speaking – the Bluetooth 2.0+EDR in Apple laptops has a max transfer of 3mbps, compared to USB and Firewire at around 400mbps and higher. I’d love to see the Front Row interface take over from the rather dated (but iconic) iPod UI. The only update I can see to the shuffle is for it to be dropped. I’m not sure they’re selling any anymore.
